Description
Desmodur® RE is a triphenylmethane-4,4′,4”-triisocyanate supplied as a solution in ethyl acetate. It is a highly effective crosslinker for solvent-based adhesive systems based on polyurethane, natural rubber, and synthetic rubber, particularly where strong adhesion to rubber materials is required.
Desmodur® RE is commonly used in two-component adhesive formulations. When incorporated into the adhesive, it reacts with suitable functional groups in the polymer system to form a crosslinked structure, helping improve the strength and durability of the bonded assembly. It is particularly relevant for rubber bonding applications and can also be used as a primer for certain metal substrates.
Typical Applications:
- Rubber-to-rubber bonding
- Rubber-to-metal bonding
- Polyurethane adhesive systems
- Natural rubber-based adhesives
- Synthetic rubber-based adhesives
- Solvent-based contact adhesives
- Industrial bonding applications
- Adhesive primer applications for metal substrates
